     A bit of late breaking news I need to share that changes the way the Swim Meets will be run league-wide this Season. Two changes:

1. The League voted this week on a short notice motion to change the order of events for swim meets. A number of teams were having difficulty filling volunteer slots in the second half of the meets so they wanted to split the two most popular events - Freestyle and Backstroke - to help keep folks around to fill volunteers slots – ie putting 1 in first half of the meet and one in 2nd half. Since the Seals didn’t have this volunteer problem (because y’all rock) we voted against the motion, but ultimately it passed and the change will go into place at the first meet. The order of events will now be this: (1) Individual Medley (2) Butterfly (3) Backstroke (4) Freestyle Relay (5) BREAK (6) Freestyle (7) Breast Stroke (8) Medley Relay.

2. The other teams liked our approach for the new age-based scoring Heat format so they adopted it league wide…. so 9/10, 11/12 and 13/14 yrs olds will only race against their own age groups at every meet. Winning heats is fun at every age😊.  The new format will definitely deliver some exciting meet finishes (big points in relays!) and encourage some kids to try new strokes – let’s embrace it and make it work for us!
