Seals Season Update - PLEASE READ!

Dear Circle C Seals Families:

I hope this email finds everybody healthy and well. Getting right to the point, the Seals Board held a meeting (via Zoom yesterday evening April 10, 2020) and with heavy hearts we voted unanimously to cancel our participation in the CCSL 2020 Season. This decision was made with our swimmer’s health and safety in mind, including the parents, families and other residents of the Circle C Community.

With the prediction announced by the Governor of Texas and the Mayor of Austin that the number of COVID-19 cases will peak in May to mid-June, we thought it was unlikely safe for all to immediately thereafter begin practicing/meets that cause hundreds of us to mingle closely.

Additionally, when the pools do open, there will be new capacity guidelines put into place, making it difficult to find the space for swim practices and swim meets as well. Finally, we also considered both AISD’s decision to close our school’s indefinitely through the fall, and the uncertainty of when the Stay Home Order will be lifted.

For clarity purposes as many have friends across the league we should share that the league Board has not canceled the season at this time and deferred to meet on May 13th to make a final decision. That said, the Seals have informed the League that even if they do decide to move forward with either a delayed and/or shortened season for 2020, Circle C will not participate. As a board, we feel that there is too much risk to move forward with any scenario, plus we do not want to encroach outside of the normal May/June time frame on our teams’ summer plans.

Moving forward, we have decided to refund your registration fees (including those that paid for QuickStarts) the week of April 13th. The funds will be returned directly to your original method of payment. If you do not receive the refund by April 20th, please reach out to our treasurer, Susan Williams, via email at [email protected].

Please know that Coach Colleen and the Seals Board had high hopes that we could continue as planned, but with the swimmers safety as our top priority, we are certain that this is right thing to do - we hope you agree and understand as well.

We wish you all good health and safety during this time, and look forward to an amazing 2021 season!

Thank you,

Kim Davis - Circle C Seals Board President
