Home Meet Details, Saturday at 8A Seals v TSD

Good evening, Team Seals,

Event sign-ups are open and close on Wednesday at 6P CDT. You can declare your swimmers here:

https://ccrseals.swimtopia.com/swim_meets/490466/s...

Remember, you can’t spell “declare” without “care” (specifically, care for our Tech Team).

Thank you ALL for your enthusiasm and hard work at Travis Country. We will keep the positive momentum going Saturday morning, when we host Texas School for the Deaf. Our meet theme will be “Funny Hats” (Eric Marshall promises to wear a Red Sox hat. Their current standing in the AL East is funny…) AND parents, bring your swimsuits for a S.E.A.L.’s relay (Seriously Entertaining and Laughable).

MEET ENTRY DETAILS

  • We are limiting the number of individual events to three (3)
  • The event order will be: 1. IM (fly/back/breast/free) / 2. Butterfly / 3. Backstroke / 4. Freestyle Relay / 5. Freestyle (point where every parent thinks, “at least I’m not on the cleanup crew!”) / 6. Breaststroke / 7. Medley Relay (back/breast/fly/free)

A FEW FRIENDLY REMINDERS

  • Volunteer changes should be made before Wednesday at 6P. If you have any last minute changes, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Bethany Pendleton at [email protected]
  • There is NO parking on Escarpment. Cars will be towed if parked in the biking lane. Please park on LaCrosse, east of Escarpment. The CDC and Kiker parking lots are open to Seals families and our guests. Also, please do not park in the spots reserved for mail pickup
  • Drop and pick in the Plaza Circle is also an option
  • No chairs for spectators in the pool area. We will have accommodations for fans with disabilities
  • For safety reasons, ONLY coaches, swimmers and select volunteers are allowed on the pool deck. And absolutely no photos or videos from directly behind the starting blocks
  • Also: no playing in the sand (kids and adults), no littering, and no leaving without signing your child out
  • The DIVE CAFE will be OPEN. The Dive is donating 10% of sales to the team. Please order more than you think you can eat. Someone in the Boys’ 11-12 tent will eat any leftover food
  • Kona Ice will also be there -- please study the meet schedule to strategize on the best time to visit the truck AND please let an AGP know whenever you are taking your swimmer on a walkabout

ONE ADDITIONAL, FOR THE LOVE OF HUMANITY, REMINDER

If there is a whiff of complexity, uncertainty or risk in your Saturday plans, do not sign up for relays. Short notice cancellation of relays means: a) a small team of us are up later than you are Friday night to make changes; b) if changes cannot be made, the relay team is scratched and others do not get to swim; c) I am taking note of repeat offenders and will enter your names into an end-of-season lottery to be the new Meet Director in 2024.

SEALS SPIRIT

The Dutch only wear orange to sporting events. The tradition began in 1544 to honor their king, 11-year-old, William of Orange. In addition to celebrating young monarchs, the Dutch are exceptionally fast on frozen water. Many consider our Seals families to be like the Dutch of Austin. We celebrate our young athletes, who are exceptionally fast in water (because our water only freezes on tree limbs). It is natural that we should wear orange Saturday.

AND THE MOST IMPORTANT THING

“It is sheer good fortune to miss somebody long before they leave you.”

This is Colleen’s last month as our Head Coach. Please make sure to let her know how much we miss her.

Thanks & Go Seals!
