Meet Logistics | June 15 @ SAAB 8A - 2P 12006 Gatling Gunn Ln
Good evening, Seals Parents,
Thank you ALL for your support this season! Saturday will be our last league meet -- to be followed by CHAMPS.
If you only do two things this week, let your children know that you love them and thank Eric Marshall. His tenure as Head Parent comes to a close this season. He has been a tireless supporter of Seals since that Spring evening in 2017 when he passed up a swell dinner at Satellite and waited all-night (with many of you) to get Mia a slot on the team. Eric bleeds Seals orange (I've seen it. It's weirdly mesmerizing). We continue to have an organization that is the envy of the league because of Eric's outstanding leadership.

Make sure to declare your swimmers before 6:00P CDT, Wednesday. You can declare your swimmers here:

We hope that you are excited to travel to SAAB to face the Barracudas. The forecast is for sunny and hot (as I typed this last sentence, I was overwhelmed with the sudden desire for hair to protect my head)
MEET ENTRY DETAILS
https://saab.swimtopia.com/location
ADDRESS: 12006 GATLING GUN LANE 78748
- This is a 5-lane pool. We are limiting the number of individual events to three (3) to protect everyone's health and sanity
- As always, if there is any risk in your Saturday plans, please do not sign up for relays. There is no other way to say it, rescheduling relays is as fun as pushing a peanut up a hill with a stick
- The event order will be: 1. IM (fly/back/breast/free) / 2. Butterfly / 3. Backstroke / 4. Freestyle Relay / 5. Freestyle (point where every parent rethinks the amount of caffeine they need to get through a full meet) / 6. Breaststroke / 7. Medley Relay (back/breast/fly/free)
- Meet theme: A combo of Taylor Swift and USA (to honor the Olympic Trials). I am counting on Cilla Parkison to have this all make sense

IMPORTANT LOGISTICAL NOTES [please read this time]
- Parking: The Pool/Amenity Center parking lot will be closed for safety reasons. Main parking is available along the streets – specifically Gatling Gun Lane, Warwick, and Buckingham Gate. Parking is also available in the Baranoff Elementary school lot across Gatling Gun Lane (see attachment)
- Spectators: Spectators are allowed to view from the pool deck from Baby Pool side (see attachment). We need to keep the Amenities Center cleared for moving swimmers from the Ready Bench to pool. Please no chairs on the deck as they end up blocking the movement of swimmers and spectators. There is space around the outside of the pool fence on the east and west sides to view from as well
- Pool entry and exit: the entrance for swimmers and volunteers is the gate at the north side of the pool (parking lot-facing). To exit the pool area use the east (street-facing) side at the walk-through gate, closest to the visitor zoo. Swimmers and volunteers only through the parking lot gate. Parents and spectators must use the gate closest to the timers and visitor zoo
- Concessions: Concessions will be available at the Gazebo adjacent to the parking lot (north of the pool). SAAB will have coffee, breakfast tacos, other refreshments, and lunch concessions -- please study the meet schedule to strategize on the best time to visit the concessions AND please let an AGP know whenever you are taking your swimmer on a walkabout
- Heat and HYDRATION: please send your swimmers with plenty to drink (we should all be drinking regularly whether we feel thirsty or not) and if your swimmers are in late relays, Gatorade, cooling towels and portable fans are also helpful
- Relief: There will be air-conditioned port-a-potties to supplement the pool restrooms. We ask that the parents and spectators used these to help reduce the traffic near the swimmer entrance
(Finally, if all of the north-by-northwest directions are confounding, please find me. I will arrive early to walk the pool and remain visible throughout the meet to answer questions)
SEALS SPIRIT
We only have two more Saturdays to unapologetically wear Seals orange (outside of our HEB). Let's all be as unapologetically orange as possible Saturday!
A SERIOUS NOTE
The season goes by in a flash! Make an extra special effort to have fun; lose your voice cheering for the Seals; and taking time out to thank someone who has made the start of your summer more fun
Thanks & GO SEALS!
Chuck
