First Day of Seals 2025!

Hello Seals Families!

The first day of practice is Monday, April 21st! I am so excited to see all of our returning Seals and to share a great "first season" with all of our new Seals.

Myself and the other coaches are looking forward to creating a safe and fun environment for all Seals swimmers, each day of the season. We can't wait to see what memories, swimming improvements, and fun that our swimmers will experience this summer!

A couple of notices and reminders heading into our first week of the season:

Pool Tags: Please make sure swimmers have their pool tags with them to scan into practice each day.

Participant Waiver: Each swimmer (or their parents) must fill out the CC online participant waiver prior to their first day of practice. Fill out the waiver with the link here: https://ccaquatics.formstack.com/forms/external_program_waiver

Practice Groups: Please see here for your child’s practice group: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12wxwu1hhOhxys5zYuhuKX2jCsNzQ5c5xMW44nyc-Q5A/edit?usp=sharing

Practice Equipment: Swimmers will need a kickboard, fins, goggles, and a swimsuit each day at practice. Label everything with a sharpie (including your child’s shoulder for the first two weeks of practice). Having the right equipment will make practice more fun for your swimmer. Thank you for helping your swimmers arrive prepared for practice each day! SwimFreak will be at the pool from 5-6:30 on Thursday (April 21st) for suit fittings.

Remind:The “Remind” group is the quickest way to know about weather-related changes to practice and other important notices. Sign up for our Remind group by clicking this link:https://www.remind.com/join/ccseals252

Weather: As I’m sure some have seen, we are anticipating some potential thunderstorms this week. We will swim in the rain and cold as long as the lifeguards determine it to be safe. If there is thunder/lightning, we will need to be out of the pool and off the deck for 30 minutes (with the timer starting over with each new strike). When there is lightning/thunder at the pool, we will either cancel the remainder of the day’s practices (if the forecast is bad enough) or we will hold out to see if the weather subsides. I will communicate via Remind about practice cancellations in the event of inclement weather. We will defer to the lifeguards in all situations.

Swimmer Safety: Coach supervision of swimmers is very limited once practice is over, since we jump right into coaching the next group. Please encourage swimmers to wait within the gates of the pool until they see their families to pick them up. For families of younger swimmers, please meet your children on the pool deck when practice is over. Once kids leave the EXIT gate, they cannot come back in except through the front entrance. Thank you for taking this precaution to keep our swimmers safe.

I think that is all for now. I want to express my thankfulness to Andrea, Joel, and many others for all they have done to set us up for an amazing Seals summer.

As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Go Seals!
