Note About Timing Meet Results
Hi Team,
We had said there would be no DQs at the Timing Meet, but low and behold, you'll see DQs on the results sheet.
It has been tradition that we didn't use Stroke and Turn Judges at Timing Meets in the past. This year we decided to keep them in as it's a perfect training experience for new volunteers in this role. Even though we had said we wouldn't do DQs - as the meet got underway all our volunteers went to work just as they would at any other meet. The computer operators also had folks in training, and everyone was training on the new timing system. The DQs were getting processed as they would at a normal meet... Once we all got to the end of the meet we (Head Parents and Coach Colleen) had a conference and decided it was better for the swimmers to know whether or not they are legal at this point, so they know what to enter in future and can learn from their mistakes. We decided to keep the DQs in the system. Please ask your coaches next week if you have any questions, they will be notified of the reasons for DQs. We do also have the times your children swam if they were DQd and can provide those on request.
Thanks for your understanding and flexibility as we go through the learning curves of some new processes and make some adjustments as we go! I think the meet went very well today, THANK YOU ALL for pitching in and making it great! Feedback welcome! We already have our own list going of tweaks to make for next week!
